Too Many Widgets Can Kills You
Widgets are free web accesories. They can be calendars, clocks, galleries, media players, shockwave flashes, banners, statistics, counters, maps, dictionary, et cetera.
Some widgets have nice looking. They may make your blog looks more beautiful than before. it also can attract your visitor to keep staying on your page and enjoy their read. But did you notice that too many widgets can kills you?
You may have as many widgets as you want on your sidebars. I have seen many blogs use widget on their single sidebar. But they don’t have enough content to attract the visitor. As a result, the visitors cannot focus the article and content but their attention is drained to the widgets itself.
What I am talking here is how to manage your widgets so your visitors prefer your content than widgets. The following steps may help you:
-
Embed them on SideBar
-
How many Sidebars do you have?
If you have more than one sidebar, you can put your widgets more
-
What is the Length of your Content?
Check your contents. Don’t let your widgets on sidebar exceeds your content. It will have a bad looking. Just imagine how is the site with widgets-only-page.
-
Is it free or paid?
Don’t make it annoy your ads. Just prefer the paid one
-
Do not blend it on your content
It will surely make visitor not focus in reading your content. Besides that, your content may loads more slowly because of the JavaScripts.
I think sidebar is the best place to place widgets like clocks, maps, dictionary, stats, counter, etc.
So, the conclusion is: do not let your blog become a free advertisement for widget’s creators.
