Google Mail for Domain
This Google Feature often being called as Google Apps. In Google Apps, you can have email addresses with GMail as your service so it will looks like GMail but the address is your domain (for example: myname@domain.com)
- To start Google Apps, first of all, you have to open up URL :
http://www.google.com/a/ - Then fill the URL of your domain
- Choose your account type, it is free for Standard Edition (find standard edition link)
- Sign up as owner
- Verify your site using CNAME record or by uploading a html file
- After verified, click activate email on your dashboard
http://www.google.com/a/domain.com - After that you should be asked to modify your MX Records
Modify MX Records
Before doing manual editing of MX Records, I suggest you to take a look on your webhosting’s controlPanel and check it whether they already prepare automated settings of GoogleApps or not.
| Record Value | Priority |
| ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM. | 10 |
| ALT1.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM. | 20 |
| ALT2.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM. | 20 |
| ASPMX2.GOOGLEMAIL.COM. | 30 |
| ASPMX3.GOOGLEMAIL.COM. | 30 |
| ASPMX4.GOOGLEMAIL.COM. | 30 |
| ASPMX5.GOOGLEMAIL.COM. | 30 |
This Google Apps Service is free for Standard Edition but paid for Premium Edition. However, there are features that only available for Premium one of course.
Google Apps For Standard only allow email addresses up to 50 with 7500MB of data each email account, but Google Apps Premium allow unlimited emails with $49 per year. Not too expensive for business eh ?
