How to Save More MySQL Space Using WordPress Plugin

WordPress is a big and sophisticated blog platform. The feature are so many. While you are writting a new post, you may notice that the post is autosaved periodically per minutes.

The autosave is a useful feature so you won’t lose your current post if your computer is out of power. The autosaved posts are stored on your MSQL databases on your server.

However, while building a huge site using WordPress, you may have a lot of autosaved posts on your database.

Those posts are not useful at all if you have publish the correct post.

It’s just like Microsoft Office autosave. But the difference is MS Office let you delete the junk files, but the WordPress not (by Default).

So to extinguish this problem for myself and for yours, i created WordPress Plugin named Clean Up

  1. Download
  2. Install
  3. Activate
  4. On DashBoard, click the clean up button

Well, you can remove and save more database space by cleaning up those autosaved posts. For this site, i have 420 junk posts and i’ve clean them up and save 100 KB. How about the big sites? How about you? :-)

Let's talk it out!

  • okap-o

    Great idea, very useful. But it should not delete everything with post_status=’inherit’ because it also deletes images attached to a post.
    I changed the query to:
    post_status=’inherit’ AND post_type=’revision’

    Something interesting would be an option to allow you choose which revisions to delete.

  • julian

    wow, thanks okap…
