DMOZ is the oldest and largest Open Directory Project (ODP) to store huge information, pages, and caches more than billions of the entire world wide web. You must ever heard this kind of definition. DMOZ is the most popular database store, not only for the webmasters, but also for search engines.

Just to be known, Top Search Engines like Google, Yahoo, Ask, MSN, et cetera still cannot store all information about web and create categoried directory like DMOZ is. They still use DMOZ database lookup inside search queries. So, your site will mostly seen on search engines queries and will get multiple traffics once your site is listed on DMOZ directory. But how?

Listing site on DMOZ directory is not as easy as submitting URL to Google, Yahoo, MSN, or pinging services like Technorati, FeedBurner, etc about any changes or new contents on your site. DMOZ is being run by human, not a bot or crawler. DMOZ has more than 100 engineers working hard to select and filter sites which deserve and meet the requirements to be listed on relevant category.

These are the step in submitting site to DMOZ:

1. Watch Your Content

   If your site contains adult content, violence, scam, or a scrapper site, you should remove them before submitting, otherwise, just forget about DMOZ

2. Check Your URL

   Type correctly, for example your address URL contain www or without www. And make sure that it is not a mirror website that pointing to another domain or URL.

3. Choose The Right Category

   To be listed, you have to choose the right category of your site. Just select your blog majorly about and select the most relevant category to describe your site.

4. Give a True Title

   You maybe asked about your site’s title. I recommend you to use the original one, the title on your browser title bar while opening your site or inside your <title> HTML tag.

5. Be More Formal

   When you are beingasked about your site description, please provide the true description with the neutral and formal language. I prefer not to use slanks and some words like cool, best, fantastic, and another persuative words

6. Do not Use Caps

   I recommend you not too use ALL CAPS words in description, title, tags, or other field. Remember that the information you provide will be read and reviewed manually by engineer, not a visitor, so ALL CAPS trick will not work for them

7. Do not Resubmit

   You may get on nerves and can not wait any longer waiting the confirmation but believe me, wait for 3 months. Do not resubmit during review time or you will be blacklisted

8. Take Attention

   Check your email, you may get email from DMOZ administrator to do some change on your blog. Do not ignore them.

9. Be Communicative

   If you receive email for DMOZ administrator, do what they ask to you and reply their message simple but have a point. Do not play with them before your URL is listed

10. Try Again

    After 3 months, your site may be listed to DMOZ, but may be not. If your site isn ot listed yet, don’t be worry about it. Sometimes DMOZ administrator will not leave an email about rejection at all. But DMOZ let you to submit it after the 3 month after your last submission. Just hope your site will be reviewed with the different guy
