Firefox has shown their ability to the world by competing Microsoft’s Internet Explorer which always installed as default browser on every Windows OS computers.

The birth of Firefox is 17 August 1945. That is the birthday of first tabbed browser which attracts people’s attention and faith. Mozilla Firefox keeps their core up-to-date by declaring as open source browser. This declaration attracts developers all over the world to participate improving Mozilla Firefox in plugin, themes, core, and module.

Nowadays, more than 98% of web traffic in Indonesia comes from Mozilla Firefox as the browser. Some people thinks firefox wins and better than newly born Internet Explorer in:

  1. Speed

    Firefox is look faster than internet explorer because it show and reload the display even while still loading.

  2. Search Engine

    Firefox uses Google as default search engine. IE uses MSN as their search engine. People still love Google than MSN.

  3. Compression

    Firefox does better compression with more max connection length.

  4. Configuration

    Firefox lets users manipulate the settings via about:config which can fasten firefox twice.

  5. Plugin

    Firefox is an open-source. Plugin is the important factor.

  6. Session storage

    Firefox always store your last session and keep it for emergency like system crash to electricity crash so you never need to reopen your last pages manually when the safe mode is on.

  7. CSS Style Recognition

    This is the important one for me. As theme designer, you may experience the difference between Firefox style library and IE’s. Firefox supports border-radius which enable you to create smoother design. While Internet Explorer is the only one browser which doesn’t.

  8. Latest Headline

    It is a simple thing on Mozilla Firefox, but it still important you know(for me) :-)

  9. AJAX Exception

    To brings AJAX technology to Internet Explorer, coder have to write additional Microsoft.ActiveXObject() to run. It does not support normal XMLHttpRequest() which can run to all another browser

  10. Solidity

    Believe it or not, Firefox still keep their old style as the default skin, but you can still download it on their open source site. But the internet explorer always changing to another skin which sometimes make users feel confuse for the first time. It really decrease the charisma of prospect of course :-)
